th kings birthday
The 5th of dec it's the Thai King's birthday and I have been invited to join a volunteering week end, nothing else then doing a fire show in a school in the province of canchanabury, so at 7.00 am on the 4th of Dec I was waiting for my lift to the place with Poppy, Deo and Hiro, Hiro is a japanese guy that plays fire pois very good. When we arrived after the long journey in the back of a pick up me and Hiro were sun burnt, of course but the worse is that we were invited to join the thai style party....which means drink and eat for 36hrs no stop!
what is really creazy is that it was a very poor area and we were there to give the people the primary goods, like rise, blankets and shoes, but nobody told me earlier so I found myself distributing goods (that i never had to buy)to very very poor people that had to queue to allow the photogrphers to take good pictures of the event....!!!it was a little too much to be honest...felt really imbarassed. I started to ask myself why people do charity, I think some do it for vanity, so I guess I ended up to be part of a vanity charity event ..ugh! well at least the people have something to eat the next days, but not thanx to me!!
tha good part of the experience was that I got very close to Poppy and Deo, and Hiro too, we were really a good team and during the night (while the others were keeping karaoking and drinking whisky and eating wild pork rosted on a wood, uhmmm) I slept with Poppy on the back of the pick up, the sky was absolutely marvellous and I thought I could see every single star of the damned universe!! and during the night it was so moist it was like lying in a swimming pool, but Deo and the others (cant name them all) were so caring they would come from time to time to give me o Poppy a blanket or to make sure that the blanket was well wrapped around me, and the nice thing is that I had to ask nothing, it seemed like they were anticipating rather then reacting.
On the way back I felt a lot of affection for the collegues of this adventure and I still do, of course it was good to do the show and help the poor but the real enrichment has been the feelings i shared with the boys, I remembered what I like of asian people....
